General information

The doctoral programme of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts offers artists who are professionally engaged in artistic activity and active in the domestic and international art scene, the opportunity to carry out in-depth artistic and research work over a period of four years. At the Doctoral School of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, artistic research is based on creative activity, which is linked to theoretical research. At the end of the doctoral studies, the doctoral thesis, containing the new results, is validated by the master work to be defended. The doctoral programme of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts provides a framework for different artistic backgrounds, ways of thinking and generations to meet and interact in a productive way. In addition to thematic lectures to support theoretical research, regular weekly doctoral programmes provide an opportunity for students to learn about each other's creative work, to follow and discuss the development of individual work programmes, and to foster student collaboration. The Doctoral School is constantly developing and expanding its offer, in an attempt to create a modern, dynamic structure that is able to respond to the changing challenges of the times.
