The Neo-Renaissance Main Building welcomes visitors with its distinctive interiors, rich decorative details and the unique atmosphere of the Art Library.
During the guided tour The Hidden Spaces of MKE, you can learn about the architecture of the Main Building on Andrássy Avenue, discover decorative motifs inspired by the Italian Renaissance, explore the Art Library’s rich collection, and hear stories about the institution’s shared history with the Old Art Hall and the people connected to it.
Duration: 60 minutes
Location: Main Building of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (1062 Budapest, Andrássy út 69–71)
Meeting point: In front of the reception desk at the entrance at 71 Andrássy Avenue, 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.
Getting there
By public transport:
M1 (Millennium Underground): Get off at Vörösmarty utca station. From the exit, it is a 2–3-minute walk along Andrássy Avenue towards City Park.
By bus: Bus routes 105 and 979 run along Andrássy Avenue; it is best to get off around Vörösmarty utca.
On foot: From Oktogon, it is approximately a 10-minute walk along the elegant tree-lined Andrássy Avenue.
By car: Traffic on Andrássy Avenue is restricted. Parking is available on nearby side streets or in car parks in the surrounding area. Please allow extra time to find a parking space.
Our tours require a minimum of 4 participants. If fewer than 4 people register, the tour will not take place. Registered participants will be notified in advance if the tour is cancelled.
