Calligrapher Zhang Wei

The year is 1963, and the place is China, in particular Changchu in Jilin province, where Zhang Wei was born.
He came to Hungary in 1993 and has lived and worked here ever since. During this time, he has set himself the goal of introducing Chinese culture to Hungarians, while at the same time promoting Hungary and higher education in Hungary among the Chinese.
To this end, he has organised a number of cultural events on the subject, including at the Budapest History Museum, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Central European University, the University of Pécs, the University of Szeged, Kaupersberg University, the Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts, and Millenáris Park.
At these venues, the public could see mainly his own calligraphies, but Zhang Wei's works have also been exhibited not only in Hungary, but also in China, at the National Museum.
His works can also be found in the collections of international art collectors, dignitaries, artists, universities and cultural institutions.
