HUFA End-of-Year Exhibitions

HUFA End-of-Year Exhibitions
At the end of May, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts once again opens its studios and unique creative spaces to the public. Over nearly two weeks, the HUFA end-of-year exhibitions offer insight into the diverse and intensive artistic work taking place within the university throughout the academic year.

During the traditional end-of-year class exhibitions, the university’s studios, workshops, and corridors are transformed into miniature galleries, allowing visitors to admire student works created across the various departments. The event provides a rare opportunity for the public to enter the university’s usually closed studios and iconic spaces. Visitors can wander through a living, constantly evolving artistic environment: from the historic halls of the Andrássy Avenue main building to the distinctive atmosphere of Epreskert, they can encounter not only finished artworks, but also the creative process and artistic thinking behind them.
All departments and classes of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts are represented at the Academy’s end-of-year exhibitions. Visitors can explore the latest works by students of painting, sculpture, graphic arts, restoration, stage design, intermedia, and visual arts — ranging from drawing studies and experimental installations to projects pushing the boundaries of artistic genres.
The event is simultaneously an exhibition, an open studio experience, and a snapshot of how the contemporary generation of artists responds to the world around them. The program series is not only a major event in the university’s professional life — as teachers and students also discover one another’s annual work during this period — but also an important meeting point between the public and emerging young artists. Visitors may be among the first to discover artists who could become defining figures of the contemporary art scene in the coming years.
