“Affairs of the Polis” exhibition of students from the Intermedia Department opens at the Kult7 Galleries.
The title refers to the ancient Greek city-states, which consisted of a central city and the surrounding villages within its sphere of influence. Together, these formed independent states with their own laws, governments, and institutions, and can be seen as precursors to modern democracies. The concept of the exhibition invited students of the Intermedia Department into a dialogue that articulates the observations and opinions of free citizens who responsibly shape communal affairs, shared spaces, and collective decision-making—the affairs of the polis. The exhibited works, employing diverse modes of expression and speaking in the language of contemporary visual art, open up a broad perspective on how we think about the affairs of the polis.
