jumpSTART 2026 / Student Art Auction

jumpSTART 2026 / Student Art Auction
For the third consecutive year, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts’ jumpSTART programme will culminate in the Student Art Auction. One of the initiative’s distinctive features is that all proceeds from the sale of artworks directly benefit the university’s students. Half of the proceeds go directly to the artists, while the other half is allocated to the university’s student welfare fund. This fund provides needs-based financial assistance to students who face difficulties covering the costs of their studies. In this way, purchasing an artwork can support not only a young artist at the beginning of their career, but also another student throughout their university years.
Venue: Barcsay Hall, Hungarian University of Fine Arts (1062 Budapest, Andrássy út 69–71.)
Date and time: 13 November 2026, 6:00 PM
REGISTRATION – Register for the auction
The auction will feature exclusively works by students of the university and will be conducted by Gábor Gundel-Takács. The event offers young artists the opportunity to gain experience in a real-world art market setting. Bidders will be able to choose from artworks spanning a variety of genres and styles, including works by students of István Erős, János Kósa, Frigyes Kőnig, Zoltán Ötvös, Eszter Radák and Géza Sallai.
The results of the 2025 Student Art Auction demonstrate the strong interest in the initiative: nearly half of the approximately 100 exhibited works found buyers, generating almost HUF 12 million in total sales.
Programme
The artworks will be available for viewing from 9 November, Monday to Friday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, in Barcsay Hall and the Aula. The auction will begin on 13 November at 6:00 PM. The event will feature a short musical performance by students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, followed by a reception, offering guests an opportunity to meet the artists in person.
